Happy New Year

So the festive season is over. I for one am quite relieved, Christmas was ok, new year was nice, but since then in a personal capacity it has just been a bit bizarre. So am throwing myself back into the knitting. Have come up and finished two new bag designs both available on my etsy page (see links) Anyway I just thought I’d take this opportunity to wisheveryone a healthy and creative 2011.

This week I have attempted to be pro active with the whole trying to get my knitting out into the public sphere with mixed success so far but it has only been a week.

On Monday with PayPal niggles sorted out I finally got some bags and purses for sale on Etsy

http://www.etsy.com/shop/Kezylou

and have set up a facebook page

So all is good at the moment

on a depressing note (for me anyway)I am nearly out of the lovely fabric Tamara gave me, so items like this are a one off in this design

Life After Art School

So it’s 4 months since graduation, and I have had the sudden realisation that things like sketch books, documentation and things like this blog have fallen by the way side. It is so different working at being creative than being a student doing it. Setting my own deadlines, trying to figure out what to make when and how and for what reason. Do I make just for the hell of it like before and hope that someone or somewhere will want to show it. I am crap at self promotion the ability to collaborate at school made that easier…..and then there is money…random contemporary art isn’t really going to make me enough money to live off, just because I enjoy and need the making creating of random statements doesn’t mean I can do just that for a living. I am fortunate enough to have a part time job and be able to spend the rest of the time being creative for a living (for as long as Cameron and Clegg dont screw up the Tax credits situation). Anyway on the trying to make money front I have mostly been keeping up the knitting,  am in the process of setting up an Etsy shop (links to follow just have some pay pal problems to iron out before I get started) A few craft fairs and A few generous friends who buy things they probably don’t want have made me start to think that this could actually work. I am not daft enough to think that I can make a complete living out of just mucking around with words and wool but it’s beginning to look like I half can.  Going to try and keep the blog going although with a bit of a changed format as previously was mainly used a s documentation for school, now it will be more like a diary. What I have made, some stuff that has inspired me I guess we’ll see.

Degree show work

This is the final display for assessment and the degree show…with a little bit of tweaking left to do.
